Week of 4/14-4/20
Welcome to the Local Sports recap, brought to you by Carson Olson.
To those interested, for my CEO Program, I will be having a Trade Show on May 1st, showing off all these things I have been working on at Sandburg from 4:30-6 along with my classmates. We would love to see you there!
With that being said, here is your weekly recap.
Softball: Softball had a busy week. They lost conference games against Quincy (9-1) and Moline (16-3). They also dropped Non-conference games to Morton (11-0), Sherrard (24-5), and Rock Falls (3-2) and (18-24). Back in conference action this week against E. Moline
Baseball: Unfortunately, Baseball has dropped 6 of their last 7. Last week, they beat Macomb 10-5, powered by a Jameson Dickerson (Sr.) home run. They fell to conference foe East Moline twice. They are in the middle of the pack at 3-4 in the WB6 conference.
Boys Track: They hosted their annual ABC Invite and took third place. Isaac Jasper won the 300-meter Hurdles, and the 4x400-meter relay dominated their race. Gilbert Lemus (Sr.) took second in the shot put, and Josiah Carter (Sr.) took second in the Triple Jump.
Girls Track: The girls competed at the 38th Annual Rock Island Girls ABC Invitation, and Ava Marty (Fr.) placed 2nd in the 200m, Lily Furrow (Jr.) took third in the 100m hurdles, Grace Herchenroder (So.) took third in the 300m hurdles, Galesburg took third in the 4x100m relay, 1st in the 4x200m relay, 1st in the 4x400m relay by 10 seconds, Marty won the Long Jump event, and Furrow won the Triple Jump.
Girls’ Soccer has won 3 in a row and highlighted by conference victories over Rock Island and Quincy. This is the 2nd time in our Girls Soccer History that we've beaten Quincy and the first time in 21 years.
Boys Tennis: At the Pekin Invite, Jackson Archer (Sr.) took 2nd in the #1 Singles Draw, and Mohamed Shehata (Jr.) took 2nd in the #3 Singles Draw.
