Week of 4/07-4/12
Welcome to the Local Sports recap, brought to you by Carson Olson.
To those interested, for my CEO Program I will be having a Trade Show May 1st, showing off all these things I have been working on at Sandburg from 4:30-6 along with my classmates. We would love to see you there!
With that being said, here is your weekly recap.
Girl’s Soccer fell twice last week. 10-1 to Geneseo and 4-1 Pekin dropping them to 6-4 overall and 1-2 in the Conference. Galebsurgs sole goal of the Pekin game came from Madalyn Lardi (Jr.) , who is now up to 17 on the season. Against Geneseo their sole goal came from Eliana Juarez (Sr.) who is now up to 15 on the season. They are back in action Tuesday night at home.
Varsity Baseball swept Quincy in Conference Play last week with respective scores of 11-4 and 6-3. They rallied in the second game in the top of the 7th to secure the win. They lost to Rochester and Morton twice in a double-header. Against Quincy in their 6-3 victory, Hayden Ralston (Jr.) went 1-2 with two RBIs and a double. Brandon Bruington (Sr.) went 1-3 and scored a run. Rochester bested the Streaks snapping their 4-game win streak as they fell 4-9. Jameson Dickerson (Sr.) went 2-4 and scored a run. First game of the Double Header against Morton, the Streaks lost 0-3, Ayden Clark (Jr.) was dominate despite the loss he pitched 6 innings, giving up the 3 runs. In the second game they fell 4-6 with Morton hitting a walk off in the bottom of the seventh. Streaks take on UTHS at home Wednesday Night.
Softball lost to Sterling and Canton on both Varsity and JV levels. Evelin Guel (So.) went 1-3 stole one base, and had an RBI, whilst Addison Stanley (So.) scored two runs, and stole two bases against Sterling. Varsity against Canton dropped them to 0-11. Streaks travel to Moline tuesday night.
Girl’s Track team won their home invite by 1 point! They outlasted Dunlap and Quincy who both tied for 2nd. The Streaks Boys team competed in the Kiwanis Invite at UTHS. Boys track returns home Friday for their Senior Night.
Tennis did not have a meet last week.
