Week of 3/31-3/05

Welcome to the Local Sports recap, brought to you by Carson Olson.

This was a rough week with lots of bad weather cancelling many of the events.

Girls’ Soccer defeated Sterling, setting a team record for most goals in a game.  They scored 9 goals, with Madelyn Lardi having 5. Streaks won 9-1, moving to 6-2. They return to action Tuesday vs Geneseo.

Varsity Baseball split with conference foe Sterling.  The Streaks lost the Monday night game but won the Friday evening game (rescheduled from Wednesday due to rain). Monday, the Streaks came up short 3-8. Braley Burford (Sr.) went 3-4 with 2 RBIs. On Friday, Streaks played at home and defeated Sterling 11-1. Streaks relied heavily on Nicolas Ojeda (Jr). who had a huge performance going 3-4, Brandon Bruington (Sr). was another huge factor, scoring 2 runs while going 2-3. Streaks are now 4-6 and take on Quincy tonight at home.

Freshman baseball picked up a home win, beating East Peoria.

Softball was swept by UTHS in a home Varsity and JV contest.  They also lost a tough one at Rockridge on Wednesday. Streaks fell to UTHS 23-0, and vs Rockridge, they lost 11-1, while Mary Moore (Jr.) hit a home run. They return to action tonight.

Boys’ and Girls’ Track was in action on Wednesday, hosting Knoxville and Canton.  Many athletes could participate as it was an "Open" meet.

The girls’ track team traveled to Moline on Saturday for the Shipley Invitational.  They took 2nd place overall

All these teams are in action this week and hopefully the weather cooperates a little better.
